No doubt, Stoicism is useful for metal toughness.
My argument is — the benefits you get from it are all internal, and it does not improve or transform our relationship with the universe — directly.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb put it like “A Stoic is a Buddhist with attitude.”
Stoicism rose in ancient Rome as citizens began to experience that it was less painful to withdraw than to go along and put themselves out there. Stoicism became a philosophy, a way of coping — a kind of learned helplessness.
Modern stoics have refined it, and I have no cries about it.
Stoicism creates tough individuals. I hope they meet each more often and talk about their dreams.
