I like Stoic, existentialism and Buddhism. I am not against Stoic, I was giving a warning against Stoic that it can become an excuse for inaction. Sometimes it is less painful to disengage than to continue with the challenges of life. People look for information that supports their current mental programs and become more like what they are.

Personally, I am a big follower of Nietzsche and his idea of Übermensch
